Waiting for rain
Staking out the rows
Having such dreams
Planning ahead
Gathering the seeds
Watching it grow
Seeing it peak through
Eating first veggies
Canning the harvest
Planning for next year
Starting seeds indoors
Covering for frost
Corn over my head
The year it didn’t grow
Callous on my hand
Hauling water years
And a year of good soil
Don’t really miss it
Enjoy seeing what others
Can produce.
