Imagine this: I am about thirteen years old;
This was a Christmas morning
Twelve of us at home:
A poem; now a song. Ellen Sagh
A Magical Christmas Place
All in the living room; happiness abounds
The rustling of the Christmas wrap are not the only sounds
The laughter and the tears; the screams of delight
As someone gets just what they want and to their chest holds tight.
Everyone wants to see; some say slow down
The lights on the tree; tinsel strewn around
Little ones in awe; tearing at the wrap
Mom and Dad sitting there; smiling where it’s at
Decisions are over; they did the best they can
To provide for all; don’t go overboard is the plan
Oranges, nuts and candy; one piece of clothes
A puzzle, maybe a book; socks for our toes
A game for the family; at the end we’d all look
An envelope on the tree; money “to mom from dad”
It was the looks of love; exchanged with all the fun
Laughter, love and caring; best presents I ever had
These words form a magical Christmas place
A lived Christmas morn; time can not erase.
