I doubt if I am the only one that needs to schedule non-doing. A lifetime of being busy and working very hard has me scrambling to keep my life in balance. Days before I retired in October last year, I attended a one-day seminar called Choices to Extra Ordinary Activity. (AN ASIDE; it was tp say PRODUCTIVITY; but what a PUN; ACTIVITY – PRODUCTIVITY).
The course gave ideas on how to act on the important and go for the extraordinary through scheduling, technology and constant renewal.
Years ago I wrote a song that goes like this:
“Life can be easy
Doesn’t have to be tough
If I know when to say
Enough is enough
If I always listen
Before I speak
Listen inside
Then I can speak
The truth I know
Inside of me
That’s always been striving
To be set free
I’m ready to listen
Ready to sing
Ready for whatever
Each day brings
And what I will do
When my work is all done
Maybe it’s time
To sit in the sun.”
I still feel I have work to do. I am not speaking about the employment that I may go back to on a part-time basis this summer. I am speaking about using my gifts and talents to enhance life for others. That to me is worth scheduling. FEB. 9, 2015
