I have a cousin named Cecelia
She stepped forward when I needed her
She drew my picture of when I was seven
The cover of my book designed by her

She gave me a painting when I purchased my home
It speaks to me of the beauty of our earth
From dust and dirt came the yellow rose
Gifted a cup, bookmark of iris and a journal I love

We have shared a glass of wine or two
Her love of Mary pours right through
Our Lady of the Prairies; others benefited too
Her paintings adorn walls all over the world

She’s still giving; a few weeks ago
A new painting for me; now all can see
It’s now with me whenever I sing
Her act of kindness means everything

I walked to an art show yesterday
Reflecting on her introducing me
To art and movement in our city and me
Thank you again Cecelia from me
