A midnight conversation
Happens when we can not sleep
We share what’s on our minds
Holding hands in the night. Final Line: We figure out we need.
They tend to get deeper
As hearts open in the dark
It’s usually worries of the future
Nothing present is that stark
Sometimes nothing we can do for another
One of us falls asleep
We don’t take it personally
As other in their own deep
Dreams sort it out for me
Sleep for him as I breathe
I have conversations with myself
Till I figure out what I need
Last night was an example
Less than half a night’s sleep
The midnight conversation
Sorted out the need to grieve
Some things I have to do myself
Comforting to have a friend
Like my spouse; people like you
People who say, “Ellen, Be You!” 1st verse with final line.
