March 9/24 in Belize
Gas siphoned out of golf cart (not ours)
Right outside front of house we are in
Bob moves ladder down that was
Up against the wall of yard
We make appointments for physicals
For when we get home
Iguana on Tennis courts
I won Bob first time in about 8 days of tennis
Will be so different here 2-5 years from now
The roads, houses, hotels, condo developments
New ones being built everyday
Beaches, Sea Weed Growth and Smell
Intensified in Last week
Three times amount as week before
All Bran only cereal we have
Chosen to buy
Road next to our house
Now became Main Street
from North of Island to South of Island
One accident
Lots of screeching tires
Things I want to remember
From our time in Belize
Goats are gone – don’t know where
More are appearing
Red & Pink Bougainvillea
Our Saturday morning 10,000 step
Mahogany Bay Resort Walking Tour
Then through the coloured wooden cabanas
About 40 of them in four long rows
Similar to the Armstrong or Baker
Cabins of Waskesiu
Different-coloured wooden chair outside each one
Only saw one woman there at 11 am
Stop by ocean for a grapefruit juice
At Island Wonder on beach of Caribbean Sea
With swings and hammocks
Picnic table in water
Sit on a lounger
Everywhere; music cranked
Music Line “This is God’s country”
Walk past the manicured grounds of
Victoria House – a resort
Stifling to walk across the sand beach
The heat of the direct sun
93% humidity; temp 28; feeling 30’s
Day after day
Saw 2 iguanas fighting
Guy carrying long snake
Scared of my own shadow these days
Know will be home one month from now
We walk another 8000 steps
Bob for groceries; me for vegetables
Garbage all over where I walk by myself
Beside the big North American hotel lot
Sister’s phone call of events in her life
We talk how hard being away when family sick
Pigeons and tropical bird sounds
Constant aircraft take off & landings
Roosters crow any time of day
Unfinished buildings, falling down fences
The beauty of the mangroves
Splashes of colour – one flower 5” across
Bicycles even scare me
Stairs 3 floors up have no rails
Washing of golf carts whenever
Wherever
The Yacht Club; no restaurant or bar
Buying our girls summer outfits
Walk past the liquor board with
The nicest art that appeals to me
Bright coloured fish
See small rotating cement mixers all over
A “Let’s go fishing” sign with Phone #
Out by the tour boats
Sound of the coral reef a constant
Tide coming in twice a day; time changes
Each day; sometimes water overflowing sea wall
Ocean takes over the beach depending on wind
Coconut trees; ants in the sand; like no seeums
Ramon’s Village Resort thatched roof huts
Beach loungers at Corona Del Mar hotel
We use near everyday
Incongruent – all say it’s high season
And there are very few people
Oliver Stuart; tour operator of a big
Boat offers to take us on sunset cruise
He from here with a Scottish grandparent
Sailboats; some multi-coloured sails but
Mostly white skimming the water
Home from our shopping for groceries
Wakmart for dry goods as 10% off
We hope we are getting
Shredded Wheat$17.95 Belize; which is near $9.00 US
Our 2 bags of vegetables
At fruit stand $39.00 Belize or $19.50 US
Love a certain Mexican salsa
Most days Sit on our regular by the
Ocean beach lounger
Thankful for WiFi
Hear the Mesa Arizona news
Friends won a golf cart
Another a 70’th birthday
Home – 2nd shower of 3 in a day
Six pm; walk to Margie & Kenny’s
Restaurant with Art walls
Of Coloured Fish in Ocean
Birds & Snakes in the Mangroves
Order: Curried Belize Conque Fish
Garden Salad Rice & Beans for Bob
He tries a Lighthouse Lager Beer in
A green bottle; says not bad
I: Caribbean Grilled Conque, coconut rice
Steamed Veg with A Cabernet Sauvignon
Glass of wine; a very great meal and evening
As we walk home in dark before 8:00
Can see a new goat tied up less than a block
From our house and inside a golf cart shop
Hanging carcasses of big animals
Seems bigger than a
Goat or Pig; so not sure what we are seeing.
March 19/24 –
I sang some songs at the Original Guitar Circle
One I call “I Can Do Anything I Want” or
“Life is Living Free.”
They sent a guitar home with me to use till I go home.
How great is that!
April 2/24
Today I saw two coatimundi (kind of like a racoon)
Across road from where we are staying in Belize;
Other day saw this sign: ”Save Our Mangroves”
April 5/24 – Day we leave I write this song
LOVE ABOUNDS
Sun or wind
We’re with ourselves Inside Out
Whatever happens every day
Kindness
Love Abounds
I take some time to be alone
Have some fun whenever I can
I’ll stop what I am doing
Ask ‘is it what I want?’
Fun and laughter
Loving friends
Whether near or far
Sun or wind
Whatever happens every day
Accept it all
I am okay
Go home now; take it easy
Take the time to enjoy life
Find all the things
That bring a smile
Breathing easy
Cooling down
Continue review when I frown
Whether near or far
Sun or wind
Whatever happens every day
Accept it all
We are okay; Accept it all; it’s all okay
Whether near or far
Sun or wind
We’re with ourselves Inside Out
Whatever happens every day
Kindness Love Abounds
